Nakhon nayok: The Royal Thai Armed Forces Preparatory School was abuzz with activity as it celebrated its 68th anniversary, with alumni gathering to congratulate commanders of the armed forces, including General Boonsin and Lieutenant Kiatwong, who were honored with prestigious awards. General Kung expressed gratitude to his fellow alumni for their dedication to defending national sovereignty, while Lieutenant Book highlighted the crucial role of soldiers in serving the nation.
According to Thai News Agency, the anniversary event, held at the school's location in Sri Ka-ang Subdistrict, Ban Na District, Nakhon Nayok Province, included the 2026 Chakdao Award Ceremony. The Minister of Defence, General Natthaphol Nakpanich, presided over the occasion, which was attended by high-ranking officials such as the Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the heads of the Royal Thai Army, Navy, Air Force, and Police, as well as alumni representatives.
The event featured significant ceremonies, including wreath-laying at the monument of King Rama V and the school's memorial, a gratitude ceremony for former commanders and teachers, and the presentation of the Chakdao Honorary Award to distinguished alumni of 2026.
The Chakdao Honorary Award is a respected accolade awarded to alumni who have shown exceptional knowledge, skills, and integrity in their work, making notable contributions to society and bringing honor to the institution. This year, notable recipients included General Tharaphong Malakham, General Ukrit Boontanon, Admiral Pairoj Fuengchan, and Air Chief Marshal Seksan Kantha, among others.
Lieutenant General Boonsin expressed his gratitude for the award, acknowledging the collective efforts of his colleagues in safeguarding national sovereignty. He encouraged his juniors to remain committed to their duties and uphold the values of professionalism, loyalty, and dedication to the nation.
Lieutenant Kiatwong Sathavorn, also known as "Lieutenant Book," who survived a landmine incident, shared his pride in receiving the highest accolade for a cadet and urged younger cadets to adapt to changing circumstances and continue their personal development.
The ceremony also paid tribute to alumni who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, with the Chakradaw Award presented to the families of Police Colonel Prathan Khiewkham, Police Lieutenant Colonel Panthep Manivachirangkoon, Police Lieutenant Colonel Pratheung Chuleart, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Songpol Boonchai.
The event aimed to strengthen camaraderie among alumni and honor those who have significantly contributed to society. The Royal Thai Armed Forces Preparatory School, part of the National Defence College, is dedicated to shaping well-rounded military and police cadets, preparing them for vital roles in maintaining national security and stability.
