Bangkok: Thai tennis acknowledges the Asian Games will be a tough challenge, but hopes for medals depend on the performance of their players. Mr. Suchai Pornchaisakudom, President of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand, acknowledged that the 20th Asian Games tennis competition in Japan, from September 27 to October 3, 2026, will be a tough challenge due to the participation of top-ranked Asian players. However, he believes the Thai team still has a chance to win medals if the athletes are physically and mentally prepared.
According to Thai News Agency, Thai tennis players are performing well, led by Lalana Thararudee and Mananchaya Sawangkeaw, two of the top 100 female tennis players in the world. Meanwhile, Kasidit Samrej recently won runner-up at the ATP Challenger 75 in China, and Prachya Isaro, ranked 95th in doubles, has achieved several titles, both championships and runner-up finishes.
At the most recent Asian Games in Hangzhou, the Thai tennis team won one bronze medal in the men's doubles event, with Prachya Isaro and Maximus Parapon Jones.
