Pipat Ratchakitprakarn Addresses Misleading Accusations About Social Security Funds

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, has advised individuals to verify information before posting online, emphasizing that he has never flown first class, in response to accusations made by Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a candidate for MP on the People's Party's party-list.

According to Thai News Agency, Pipat, who is a prominent figure in the Bhumjaithai Party responsible for overseeing the southern region, took to his personal Facebook page to clarify the misinformation. He stated, 'Regarding the false information circulating about me, I would like to clarify the truth. For all my meetings, I always choose to travel in business class.' Pipat emphasized his commitment to using the provident fund economically and responsibly, as it belongs to insured individuals and must benefit everyone.

Pipat expressed gratitude to citizens and various pages that have supported the truth and justice, noting the encouragement and trust he has received empower him to continue his work. He highlighted the crucial role of responsible information dissemination and urged the public to be discerning before sharing unverified information that could harm others.

The incident began when Ms. Rakchanok Srinok posted accusations suggesting Pipat used social security contributions for a first-class flight. She later retracted her statement, clarifying that Pipat had only traveled business class and lacked evidence of him flying first class during previous ministerial periods. Pipat used the opportunity to reiterate his policy against unnecessary first-class travel and the importance of careful fund management.

Pipat urged the media to verify information thoroughly before dissemination, especially during election periods when distorted information can cause significant harm. He also called on all political parties to ensure the accuracy of their information before publicizing it.
