Thai Women’s National Football Team Gears Up for Asian Games Challenge

Nagoya: The Thai women's national football team is set to compete in the Asian Games, embracing the challenge of facing strong opponents. Coach Alfred leads the squad to Japan, acknowledging the challenge of being in a group with higher-ranked nations. According to Thai News Agency, the team departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Nagoya, Japan last night to prepare for the 20th Asian Games women's football competition. This team includes players such as Kanyanat Chetbutr, Thanikarn Daengda, Janista Jinanthuya, Saowaluk Pengngam, Pornpirun Pilawan, Sangrawee Meekham, and Phisamai Sonsai, as forwards. Head coach "Coach Alfred" Netipong Sritongin expressed confidence in the 23-member squad, stating that the training has progressed as planned despite having only two weeks to prepare. He emphasized the importance of players adapting and understanding the game quickly for improved performance. The current squad is notably different from the one that participated in the last SEA Games. Coach Alfred believes the pla yers have a better grasp of the tactics and playing style. Despite the challenge of facing higher-ranked group opponents, the team remains undaunted. The coaching strategy prioritizes improvement areas over tournament progression. The Group E program outlines matches against Japan on September 14th at 5:30 PM, Chinese Taipei on September 17th at 2:00 PM, and Vietnam on September 21st at 5:30 PM. The teams will compete in a round-robin format to determine the group winners, group runners-up, and the two best third-placed teams from the three groups, who will advance to the knockout round.
