Ayutthaya: The Director-General of the Royal Rainmaking Department explains the reason for the helicopter's emergency landing in a field in Ayutthaya.
According to Thai News Agency, the Director-General of the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation revealed that a rainmaking helicopter made an emergency landing in a field in Ayutthaya due to a loud noise from the rotor blades. A thorough inspection has been ordered.
Residents of Village No. 6, Ban Wa Subdistrict, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, were startled when a helicopter made an emergency landing at the edge of their village. They recounted the incident with panic, saying they heard a sound like wind and rotor blades in the sky. Looking up, they saw a helicopter flying over the rooftops and signaling from those on board that it was an emergency landing. Fearing it would land in the village, they gestured for it to land at the edge of the village, in the middle of a rice field. Those who witnessed the event then took photos with their phones and rushed to the scene on motorcycles. They found three people on board who briefly discussed a rotor malfunction and said they were repairing it. After about 20 minutes, the rotors were back in operation and the helicopter took off again. Fortunately, there were no injuries or property damage to the villagers.
The Director-General of the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation recently revealed that a rainmaking helicopter made an emergency landing in a field in Ayutthaya due to an unusually loud noise from the rotor blades. The helicopter has since been returned to the aircraft hangar at the Agricultural Aviation Base in Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani province, for a thorough inspection to ensure it is 100% functional before being put back into operation.
