Several roads in Chiang Mai town are under water this morning after it was hit by heavy rainfall last night.
Schools were closed and traffic was paralyzed after traffic police closed several roads and sois that are under water.
Chiang Mai was ravaged by rains for many days until last night's heavy rains caused the sudden burst of accumulated rain water on Doi Suthep mountain range to flow down into the town.
Affected by flooding included Charng Klan, Prachasamphan, Mahidol, and Charoenprathes.
Several water pumps were installed to drain the flood water in the town out.
Chiang Mai governor Pavin Chamniprasart convened a meeting today with all relevant officials to drain out the contained flood water in the town and to prevent more flooding in case of more rainfall today.
