Nan: The Commander of the Border Patrol Police has issued an urgent order to dispatch volunteer police officers and disaster relief teams to quickly assist people affected by the flooding in Pua District, Nan Province.
According to Thai News Agency, today's reports indicate that heavy and continuous rainfall in several areas of Pua District, Nan Province, has caused flash floods, waterlogging, road damage, landslides, and fallen trees, resulting in damage to houses, roads, and transportation routes in many locations. The flooding situation is particularly severe in Pua, Phu Piang, and Santi Suk districts, where heavy rain has caused flash floods, making some roads impassable. Authorities are urgently providing assistance.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Rungroj Thakoonpunyasiri, Commander of the Border Patrol Police, has ordered Border Patrol Police Region 3, along with volunteer police officers, to immediately provide assistance to affected citizens in the area. He also instructed them to maintain 24-hour surveillance in areas at risk of landslides, closely monitor the situation, and be ready to safely evacuate immediately if necessary.
The Northern Meteorological Center issued a weather alert for Nan Province at 7:00 AM, with radar detecting light to moderate rain showers covering all districts of Nan Province, including areas in neighboring provinces such as Phrae, Phayao, Lampang, Lamphun, and Chiang Rai. The rain clouds are moving southwest.
The public in the area is advised to exercise caution when driving vehicles as roads may be slippery and visibility may be reduced. In high-risk areas, residents in low-lying and mountainous regions should monitor accumulated rainfall, which may lead to flooding or flash floods.
The Office of the Municipal Clerk, Nan Municipality, has announced that due to heavy rainfall exceeding 200 millimeters in several areas of Nan Province, particularly in Pua, Santi Suk, and Mae Chrim districts, from midnight until now, flash floods have occurred in the northern areas of the Yao River (eastern) and Wa River, causing water levels to rise.
The Nan Municipality is urging communities within the Nan municipal area that are at risk, especially those that were flooded in 2006 and 2024, to move belongings to safety, prepare to move vehicles to safe areas, and prepare to evacuate vulnerable groups to safe locations.
