Erawan Falls Reopens to Tourists as Wildfire Concerns Subside

Kanchanaburi: Erawan Falls is once again open to tourists after weather conditions normalized and wildfire threats diminished. Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi Province resumed operations for tourism and overnight stays from April 22, 2026. This decision follows the resolution of wildfire and haze issues, and air quality returning to safe levels.

According to Thai News Agency, the park had been temporarily closed to tourists on April 21, 2026, due to hazardous wildfire conditions and elevated PM2.5 levels, which had reached 42.9 micrograms per cubic meter, posing health risks. Continuous monitoring and assessment showed significant improvement in the wildfire situation, prompting authorities to reopen the park under the National Parks Act B.E. 2562 (2019).

The reopening is part of efforts to rejuvenate the tourism atmosphere, ensure safety for tourists and staff, and boost the local economy while generating income for nearby communities. Ms. Lalida emphasized the government’s commitment to balancing natural resource conservation with local economic development, ensuring that citizens and tourists can safely enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
