Samut prakan: "Bird Wanwangwan," a well-known Thai influencer and host of a popular comedy show, recently appeared at the Phra Pradaeng Police Station to address a summons related to a controversial video he created. The summons was issued after Bird mixed caulking with water and splashed it on people celebrating Songkran in Phra Pradaeng, resulting in two victims suffering from skin inflammation and conjunctivitis.
According to Thai News Agency, Bird Wanwangwan expressed deep remorse for the incident. During his visit to the police station, he bowed in apology and stated, "It wasn't grout!" He explained that his intention was to create a playful video with friends and not to harm or smear powder on others intentionally. He claimed the mixture was not caulking glue, despite appearances, and apologized to the people of Phra Pradaeng and Samut Prakan for the content.
Bird acknowledged the negative impact of the video, admitting he did not foresee the repercussions. He expressed regret for not considering the consequences and promised to refrain from producing similar content in the future. Despite the incident, Bird emphasized his channel's history of creating positive social content and expressed a desire for such efforts to receive more attention.
One of the affected individuals, who developed conjunctivitis, expressed willingness to forgive Bird if he apologized, which he did. She noted her condition has improved and discouraged Bird from creating similar content in the future. The victim is not pursuing any further legal action regarding medical expenses.
Meanwhile, lawyer Rose and the team of Gun Jompalang, another complainant, noted that the second victim remains upset and did not wish to speak publicly. Gun Jompalang's team conveyed that Bird needs to improve and learn from this experience. They expressed openness to facilitating a discussion if Bird demonstrates sincere remorse.
Bird clarified that his recent trip to Hong Kong was for religious purposes and joked about leaving Thailand due to the backlash. He mentioned he no longer checks social media, as he can't access it, and remains unaware of negative comments.
When questioned about the potential closure of his online platform, Bird humorously remarked that he would consider working in construction. For now, the legal case awaits further developments, including the results of a medical examination to determine if charges of assault will proceed.
