Bangkok: The Prime Minister has dismissed allegations of a collusion scandal involving the Senate as a political maneuver orchestrated by those aspiring to be in power. He refuted claims of anti-government protests as misinformation and assured that all ministers are prepared to clarify their positions in the upcoming no-confidence debate, stressing that there is no collusion with senators.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the dissemination of fake news regarding protests against the government, urging the public to verify information before accepting it as truth. He expressed confidence in the government's dedication to serving with honesty and integrity. He emphasized the government's lack of connection to the Senate, which will assume office two years prior to the government's term in 2026.
Mr. Anutin also responded to a video release by MPs from the People's Party, which allegedly targeted the government, by asserting that it was an attempt to undermine public trust. He described it as a tactic by those outside the government who refused to accept electoral defeat.
During a recent visit to Buriram province, Mr. Anutin addressed an incident where his car was searched at a checkpoint, clarifying that it was a routine procedure and not staged. He dismissed criticisms and explained that he was traveling privately without an escort.
In discussions about the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" Phase 2 project, Mr. Anutin highlighted the government's commitment to improving citizens' quality of life while avoiding welfare state policies. He emphasized economic growth and effective budget management, but did not provide a definitive answer on the project's continuation.
Addressing international relations, Mr. Anutin stated that the US's invitation to choose sides in an AI competition with China would not impact trade negotiations with Thailand. He assured that relations remain cordial and that discussions with US officials have been conducted without pressure.
