State Railway of Thailand Outlines Support Measures for Crane Collapse Victims

Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has released a summary of the care and compensation measures provided to those impacted by the recent crane collapse incident. It has been confirmed that support is being administered in a systematic and comprehensive manner.

According to Thai News Agency, the SRT has reported progress in addressing the needs of individuals affected by the construction crane collapse on January 14, 2026. The organization has emphasized that the assistance being offered is ongoing and tailored to the specific circumstances of each family affected by the tragedy.

For the families of the deceased, the SRT has completed the identification of all 30 victims. Management representatives have been dispatched to attend the funeral and cremation ceremonies of each victim. An initial compensation amounting to 1,510,000 baht per person has been disbursed, sourced from a royal grant, financial aid from the SRT, payments from the relevant insurance company, and support from the contracting company. Efforts to secure additional assistance from other agencies are ongoing.

In terms of the injured, 69 individuals were affected, with 12 still receiving medical treatment in hospital. The SRT has arranged for officials to visit these patients and ensure that their medical needs and expenses are adequately handled.

Regarding property damage, the SRT has established a special channel for affected passengers or their relatives to file compensation claims. Dedicated staff are available to provide guidance and ensure fair consideration of each case.

The SRT assures that it will continue to monitor the situation and provide the necessary support to those affected by the incident. Concurrently, the organization is reviewing and strengthening safety measures to enhance public confidence.
