Mukdahan: Immigration police in Mukdahan province, working alongside local city police, have successfully apprehended a Lao national identified as "Thao Ae" after he allegedly stole a motorcycle and fled through a barrier on the Second Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge.
According to Thai News Agency, Thao Ae, a 26-year-old resident of Pathumphon District in Champasak Province, Laos, was captured at a roadside shelter in front of Kham Cha-i Municipal Kindergarten on Highway 12. This arrest came after a tip-off from a concerned citizen. Upon arrest, police discovered the stolen Honda Wave 125i motorcycle, with a Bangkok license plate, at the scene. Additional items confiscated included the motorcycle keys, 170,000 kip in Lao currency, and three mobile phones.
The incident unfolded on September 5th at 1:30 PM when immigration investigators in Mukdahan Province reported that a suspect had evaded a checkpoint at the border crossing. The suspect, dressed in a pink long-sleeved shirt, jeans, sandals, and a military-style cap, was seen heading towards Phon Sai on the new bypass road. Following the theft revelation and the absence of proper immigration documentation, Thao Ae was detained. He faces charges under Section 18 and Section 62 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979) for entering the Kingdom without the requisite permission and for theft or possession of stolen property.
