Myanmar Suspects Reenact Shooting of Police Officer in Mae Sot

Mae sot: Two Myanmar men were taken to reenact the shooting of a police officer in Mae Sot. The officer, who was seriously injured during the incident, is now out of critical condition following surgery. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the firearm used in the crime.

According to Thai News Agency, Mae Sot police escorted the suspects to the crime scene as part of their confession process. The shooting occurred during a sting operation aimed at purchasing illegal firearms. The suspects, realizing the trap, shot and injured the police officer before escaping to Myanmar. They were later captured by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and handed over to Mae Sot police.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Paisarn Nanta, Commander of the Tak Provincial Police, personally interrogated the suspects after the reenactment. He has extended the investigation to identify the firearm's source and has charged the suspects with "jointly attempting to murder a law enforcement officer while performing their duty, and resisting or obstructing a law enforcement officer using a firearm."

Meanwhile, Police Sergeant Seksan, who sustained serious abdominal injuries, is recovering post-surgery. Although he is no longer in critical condition, medical staff continues to monitor his health closely.
