DSI Expands ‘Maemon’ Network Investigation, Uncovers Assets Worth 300 Million Baht.

Lopburi: The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has broadened its probe into the notorious 'Maemon' network, revealing significant evidence of money laundering activities linked to prominent investors. The latest development in the investigation saw the opening of 21 safety deposit boxes, which yielded assets worth over 300 million baht. According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Col. Yutthana Phraedam, the acting director-general of the DSI, announced the arrest results alongside relevant agencies. The investigation team from the Technology and Information Crime Division of the DSI examined these safety deposit boxes in Lopburi Province. These boxes were connected to a group of investors involved in the online gambling operations of the 'Maemon' network. Previously, 38 individuals faced charges related to organizing unlicensed gambling, money laundering, and violations of the Computer Act. The investigation led to the arrest of 20 suspects under existing warrants. Further inquiries revealed additional offenses, including the transfer of funds from gambling websites to other bank accounts associated with five major investors. It was discovered that these investors had secured a safe deposit box at a bank in Lopburi Province. The investigation team obtained authorization from the Lopburi Provincial Court to access all 21 safes, uncovering assets such as gold jewelry, land title deeds, cash exceeding 15 million baht, and amulets, totaling approximately 300 million baht. Moving forward, the DSI, in collaboration with related agencies, will continue to scrutinize these assets with the intention of taking legal action against the 'Maemon' network.
