BANGKOK: The Meteorological Department has announced that the upper part of Thailand will experience cooler mornings, with temperatures expected to drop by 1-2 degrees Celsius. This change in weather is accompanied by strong winds, particularly in the Northeastern region, and thunderstorms predicted for certain areas in the lower Northern, lower Northeastern, lower Central regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the Eastern region. According to Thai News Agency, a moderate to strong high-pressure area or cold air mass from China is spreading across the upper part of Thailand and the South China Sea, leading to the cooler conditions. The Northeast is expected to experience strong winds, while mountaintops and hills will face cool to cold weather. Additionally, a westerly wind wave from Myanmar is moving towards the western part of the North, coupled with upper-level easterly and southeasterly winds affecting the lower North, lower Northeast, lower Central regions, Bangkok, and the East. These areas may experience thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind in certain northern regions. Residents in the upper parts of Thailand are advised to take health precautions due to the cooler weather, while farmers are urged to protect their crops from potential damage. In the southern region, a monsoon trough is affecting the lower areas, with a moderate northeast monsoon blowing over the Gulf of Thailand. This is expected to result in heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the southern region. Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant against dangers from heavy rain, potential flash floods, and forest runoff, especially in hillside regions near waterways and lowlands.
