Bangkok: There are 25 victims in the Feng Shui fortune teller scandal, with damages totaling 80 million baht. Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division revealed that the 'feng shui fortune teller' case currently has 25 victims, with total damages worth 80 million baht. He emphasized that evidence is still being collected, so the fortune teller has not yet been invited to give a statement. According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Anek Taosuphap, deputy commander of the Crime Suppression Division, detailed that the famous feng shui fortune teller deceived individuals into participating in fortune-telling sessions, ceremonies, and purchasing amulets, which they never received. The case, initially handled by the Bang Khun Non Police Station, has been transferred to the Crime Suppression Division. Additionally, a new victim has been identified in Malaysia, who, along with other relevant individuals, has been authorized to file a complaint. The deception involved inviting individuals to various premises, pointing out alleged disaster-prone areas, and suggesting ceremonies and sacred objects as remedies. This fraudulent activity has persisted for 2-3 years, with some victims purchasing products that were never delivered. Pol. Col. Anek highlighted that the fortune teller built credibility through media appearances, leading to the deception of many victims. The offense is currently categorized as fraud, but authorities are examining whether it extends to defrauding the public and if it violates the Computer Crime Act. This involves scrutinizing the information released by the fortune teller on social media for any falsehoods. The process of summoning the fortune teller for a statement is ongoing, as the police continue to collect victim testimonies and gather evidence to proceed with the case.
