Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has expressed strong confidence in Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthamphan's capability to manage the economy effectively. Despite a wave of criticism and social media scrutiny directed at Supajee, Anutin remains unfazed, dismissing the need for an additional Deputy Finance Minister and affirming the government's functionality.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin Charnvirakul, who also leads the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed recent controversies surrounding Supajee. He defended her unwavering diligence and calm demeanor amid criticisms. Anutin dismissed claims of Supajee facing a series of misfortunes, comparing her resilience to his own experiences over the past three years.
Anutin reiterated that Supajee is not discouraged by the criticism and continues to work tirelessly. He emphasized that there is no need to bolster the team with additional members, asserting that the current setup is adequate. Addressing the Economic Party's pressure for Supajee's resignation, Anutin pointed out that they supported his election as Prime Minister, implying that their criticisms are unfounded.
On the topic of a potential merger between Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) and Bhumjaithai Party, Anutin maintained that while PPRP remains a part of the government coalition, discussions about mergers are internal matters for the respective parties. He emphasized stability and effective governance over party size, highlighting Bhumjaithai's growth from a minority to a significant presence in the government.
Anutin concluded by praising Supajee's strength and cautioning against underestimating her resolve.
