Air Chief Marshal Praphas Sonjaidee, Director of the Joint Press Center on the Thai-Cambodian Situation, stated that despite the dissolution of Thailand's parliament on December 11, the government continues to operate as a "caretaker government" with full legal authority to ensure the security and safety of the people, maintaining uninterrupted national defense.
According to Thai News Agency, tensions have escalated along the Thai-Cambodian border following Cambodia's offensive attacks and encroachments on several Thai areas. In response, the Thai military has exercised its right to self-defense under both Thai and international law to address threats to civilian lives and safeguard national sovereignty as thoroughly as necessary.
The government and military have affirmed their empowerment to command and operate under the law, particularly in enforcing security measures in border areas. This includes the potential declaration of martial law in certain areas to ensure public safety. The joint press center pledges to provide transparent and continuous updates to keep the public accurately informed about the situation.
