Supajee Suthamphan Unveils Plans to Transform Thailand into an Asian Digital Hub

Bangkok: "Supajee" aims to make Thailand an "Asian digital hub," paving the way for UCLA to establish a branch in Thailand; the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) develops 1,000 rai of land to attract investment from Hollywood. Ms. Supajee Suthamphan, Minister of Commerce, opened the VISION to SCREEN: HOLLYWOOD EDITION event and announced the direction for pushing Thailand to become a digital content hub in Asia. She pointed out that the global content market is growing at an average rate of 8% per year, while Thailand is also experiencing continuous growth.

According to Thai News Agency, a major highlight is the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television's upcoming opening in Thailand, aiming to develop Thai content professionals through professional short courses. The goal is to elevate the skills of directors, actors, screenwriters, and animators to be on par with Hollywood.

Revealing the "3E" strategy to drive the industry, Ms. Supajee highlighted key areas: Empowering People by developing employee skills to world-class standards; Elevating Entrepreneurship to drive Thai entrepreneurs into the international market; and Enabling a World-Class Ecosystem by laying the groundwork, establishing production standards, and providing incentives for investors.

The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) is preparing 1,000 rai of land for the "EEC City" project to accommodate world-class studios and filming locations, with a grand opening planned for early 2026. The goal is to attract investment from the global film and digital industries to Thailand.
