Muscat: “Sihasak” flies to Oman to discuss the situation in the Middle East and requests assistance in negotiating the passage of Thai cargo ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, accepted an invitation from Omani Foreign Minister Sayyed Badr bin Hamad Al Bouzaidi to visit Oman. The primary purpose of this trip is to engage in discussions about the current situation in the Middle East and to seek cooperation for the safe passage of Thai cargo ships carrying essential commodities like oil, gas, and fertilizer through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Before his departure, Mr. Sihasak highlighted that this visit is his first official trip as Deputy Prime Minister, with a focus on addressing the security concerns related to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which holds global significance.
Upon his arrival in Muscat at approximately 1:00 PM local time, Mr. Sihasak is scheduled to meet with Shehab bin Tariq Al Said, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, and the Commander of the Omani Navy. He intends to express gratitude for the safe rescue of 20 Thai crew members from the Thai cruise ship Mayurinaree and for efforts in locating the three missing crew members. Furthermore, Mr. Sihasak will engage in discussions on energy matters with Salim bin Nasser bin Said Al-Offi, Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals.
On the following day, Mr. Sihasak is set to meet Omani Foreign Minister Sayyed Badr bin Hamad Al Bouzaidi. He will also take the opportunity to connect with the Thai community residing in Oman.
