Khon kaen: Professor Thongthong Chantrangsu, Chairman of the National Committee for the Protection of Buddhism, met with the Governor of Khon Kaen to discuss resolution strategies for the land dispute at Wat Pa Adulyaram, emphasizing adherence to procedures and laws.
According to Thai News Agency, Professor Thongthong had previously engaged with the Abbot of Khon Kaen Province to relay this matter, followed by meetings with both the Deputy Abbot and the Governor. The Governor advised him to prioritize his safety during these proceedings. On August 16th, Professor Thongthong met with Phra Khru Adul Saranithet, the abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram, to provide information and outline the forthcoming steps.
The central issue revolves around the process of transferring the land title deed ownership to the temple. The National Office of Buddhism has formally requested information and evidence from the Governor of Khon Kaen to facilitate this process. The Ministry of Interior's permission is a requisite for such land transfers under Section 84, and the Department of Land is responsible for this procedure. The province is committed to expediting the process, given its public interest significance, and hopes this case can serve as a precedent for similar issues in other regions, referencing a comparable instance in Nakhon Sawan Province.
The scene at Wat Pa Adulyaram this morning was vibrant, with many arriving to make merit and support Phra Kru Adul Saranithet, the temple's abbot. The abbot expressed relief following discussions with the Office of National Buddhism. Despite the ongoing dispute, Phra Khru Adul Saranithet continues his monastic responsibilities, drawing consistent support from the lay community.
