Prime Minister Oversees Compensation Payment for Crane Collapse Victims in Nakhon Ratchasima

Nakhon ratchasima: The Prime Minister witnessed the handover of 1.3 million baht in compensation to the relatives of those who died in the crane collapse onto the train. He instructed the Ministry of Transport to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation, affirming that the government will not abandon its citizens and will provide full assistance in all aspects.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also the Minister of Interior, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, attended the ceremony to present compensation to the families affected by the construction crane collapse involving a train at the high-speed rail project in Sikhiu District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The ceremony, attended by various representatives from relevant agencies, was held to express condolences and provide support to the bereaved families.

The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing immediate care and support. He instructed relevant agencies to expedite assistance and compensation for the affected families to ensure that aid is comprehensive and fair.

This compensation covers 30 families or heirs of the deceased, including 340,000 baht per family from the State Railway of Thailand and 1,000,000 baht per family in insurance compensation from Tipaya Insurance Public Company Limited. The State Railway of Thailand has coordinated with relevant agencies to facilitate travel and ensure smooth operations, confirming its commitment to care for those affected and enhance safety measures.

Mr. Anutin reiterated the government’s deepest condolences and commitment to expedite assistance and relief for the families affected by the crane collapse during the high-speed rail project. The compensation reflects the government’s dedication to supporting bereaved families and ensuring swift delivery of aid. The government will monitor the compensation process until all procedures are completed.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister has instructed officials to expedite the investigation into the incident with transparency and fairness. The government will take legal action if any illegal acts, violations, or negligence are found.

The Ministry of Transport has been instructed to review and improve construction safety standards to align with current circumstances. The safety of workers and the public is a national priority, and the government is committed to providing full support to restore confidence and safety to the families of the deceased.
