Ubon ratchathani: Mr. Prasert Chantharawongthong, Minister of Education, has directed his focus towards Ubon Ratchathani to promote three main strategies: "Access, Quality, and Participation" for enhancing special education throughout Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Prasert recently visited the Special Education Center in Educational Area 10, Ubon Ratchathani Province. This center serves as an early intervention and preparation hub for seven types of disabilities before children transition to early childhood development centers. The center currently supports 1,088 students, both in day-care and boarding formats, and is staffed by 204 teachers, staff, and caregivers. It extends its services to 27 external units across Areas 1-5 and provides home visits for children with severe disabilities unable to attend in person.
During his visit, the Minister acknowledged the challenges faced by the center, such as unequal budget allocation and a shortage of 130 staff members, despite some children requiring nearly one-on-one attention. He urged relevant authorities to discuss these gaps and ensure the provision of free education becomes a reality.
Mr. Prasert expressed his dedication to supporting the region by focusing on three key areas: accessibility, quality, and participation. He emphasized the importance of equitable access to services, supporting teachers and resources, and fostering collaboration to create an inclusive education system that leaves no one behind.
