Aranyaprathet: Security officials have clarified that the Khlong Luek border crossing was not specifically opened to receive Thai citizens returning home, emphasizing that it remains their original right.
According to Thai News Agency, the Khlong Luek border crossing in Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, was not opened to receive the more than 600 Thais stranded in Cambodia, as they have the same rights as before.
Thai security officials further elaborated that today, the Khlong Luek border crossing will facilitate the return of over 600 Thai citizens who have been stranded in Cambodia. A high-ranking security source stated that this should not be considered a reopening of the border but rather the repatriation of Thai citizens, which is their existing right as a citizen. There will be a specific number of Thai citizens allowed to return, as coordinated between immigration officials of both countries; no other cases will be considered.
According to the news, the process of returning Thai citizens is currently underway at the Poipet border crossing. However, once coordination is received through the Immigration Department, all Thai citizens will be able to return to their homeland according to their rights as stated above.
