Pak chong: The Department of Religious Affairs is spearheading the 2026 Interfaith Youth Training Program, titled 'Harmony for Happiness,' with a focus on fostering well-being through diversity. The program is being held at Parco Khaoyai by The Bonanza Hotel in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the initiative is a collaborative effort by the Department of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Culture, and five major religious organizations. The event, presided over by Mr. Chaiyapol Suk-iam, Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs, along with Ms. Thitima Suphaphak, Director of the Religious Affairs Support Division, and Ms. Saengphet Lamthaisong, Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Cultural Officer, gathered 160 participants, including youth from Bangkok, the southern border provinces, and online applicants nationwide.
Director-General Mr. Suk-iam highlighted that the project, running from April 20-24, 2026, operates under the theme "Harmony for Happiness - Interfaith Relations for Well-being." The program creates a platform for youth from varied faiths to learn and exchange ideas, aiming to cultivate respect for differences as a cornerstone for peaceful coexistence in a multicultural society.
The training emphasizes practical learning and diverse activities, including exploring the practices of five religions, engaging in learning-based activities such as Walk Rallies, and participating in field trips to religious sites through the Youth Harmony Trip. Additionally, the program includes activities designed to enhance analytical thinking, teamwork, and constructive exchange, while also promoting environmental awareness, volunteerism, and a positive attitude.
Now in its second year, the project offers 40 young people from the southern border provinces an opportunity to engage, promoting understanding and positive interfaith relationships. Religious leaders and experts contribute to the program by sharing their knowledge and insights.
Mr. Suk-iam underscored the significance of the project as a key mechanism for building social resilience, reducing prejudice, and nurturing youth into leaders of positive change. The knowledge and experience gained can then be shared within schools and communities, contributing to a harmonious and sustainable society in Thailand.
