Chinese Foreign Minister Engages in High-Level Talks with Myanmar Leadership

Bangkok: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Myanmar President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing during an official visit to Myanmar. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations and development cooperation, with a strong emphasis on addressing issues related to online gambling and call center scams.

According to Thai News Agency, President Min Aung Hlaing expressed Myanmar's commitment to its relationship with China, highlighting it as the most important bilateral relationship for the country. He reiterated Myanmar's adherence to the One China principle and expressed strong support for China's four global initiatives. The Myanmar leader emphasized the importance of strengthening high-level exchanges, advancing the Myanmar-China Economic Corridor, and ensuring peace and security along their shared border. He assured that Myanmar would intensify its efforts to combat online gambling and telecommunications fraud and implement measures to protect Chinese personnel and projects within Myanmar.

Wang Yi reaffirmed China's consistent policy towards Myanmar, underscoring China's support for Myanmar's development path, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He emphasized the importance of building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future, which aligns with the needs of both countries for development and rejuvenation. Wang Yi expressed China's willingness to cooperate with Myanmar in eradicating online gambling and telecommunications fraud and encouraged Myanmar's participation in various dialogue and cooperation mechanisms while strengthening interactions with ASEAN.
