Bangkok: The government is intensifying efforts to provide assistance to those affected by the ongoing unrest at the Thai-Cambodian border, particularly focusing on residents in the seven southern border provinces. In line with this initiative, the Thai Credit Guarantee Corporation (TCGC) has announced a relief package for its customers and debtors, which includes a six-month suspension of fees and installment payments for those impacted by the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Airin Phanrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, highlighted the severe impact of the unrest on the livelihoods and properties of people living near the border. In response, the Small and Medium Enterprise Credit Guarantee Corporation (SMEG) has rolled out urgent measures to support its clients and borrowers affected by the crisis. Businesses in the seven border provinces-Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat-will benefit from a moratorium on fees and installment payments, split into two categories.
The first category, Customer Assistance Measures, targets SMEs with loans guaranteed by TCGC. These businesses, with guarantee fees due between December 7, 2025, and January 31, 2026, can defer their guarantee and management fees for six months. They must register for this benefit by January 31, 2026.
The second category offers relief for debtors whose claims have been settled by TCGC. Eligible debtors, who are part of a debt restructuring plan and have maintained their payments, can suspend both principal and interest payments for six months. Applications for this measure will be accepted from December 7, 2025, to January 31, 2026. Additionally, in cases where a government official or their immediate family member has died or become disabled due to the unrest, TCGC will waive all principal and interest on relevant contracts.
Ms. Airin emphasized the government's commitment to mitigating the hardships caused by the border conflict and encouraged affected TCG customers and debtors to register for the relief measures via LINE OA TCG First: @tcgfirst.
