Bangkok: The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), in collaboration with its network partners, is advancing the development of "Asoke neighborhood identity manhole covers" to transform infrastructure into art that narrates the story of the city. This initiative focuses on capturing the essence of the Asoke area, highlighting its lifestyle, transportation, environment, and the daily activities of its residents.
According to Thai News Agency, the project involves a design competition that invites citizens, youth, and designers to contribute artistic works reflecting the unique identity and urban lifestyle of the Asoke neighborhood. The goal is to turn ordinary manhole covers into artistic symbols, creatively highlighting various aspects of life in the area.
The design initiative is based on the "Four Dimensions of Happiness" concept, which includes well-being, comfortable travel, environmental happiness, and activity happiness. This approach aims to enhance the overall quality of life for urban residents, improve the city's aesthetics, promote walkability, and foster a sense of community involvement. By integrating engineering with art, this project exemplifies urban development through collaboration among government entities, the private sector, academia, and the public, contributing to a unique and vibrant cityscape.
