Bangkok: Welcoming two female snooker heroes back from the "World Games", with "Jel-Ploy" boasting that they have reserved the gold medal at the SEA Games. Mr. Amnat Chayanurak, organizer of the Thai national snooker team for the 33rd SEA Games, traveled to Suvarnabhumi Airport to welcome two of the national women's snooker heroes who made history in the 6-Red Snooker competition at the 12th World Games in Chengdu, China. Narutcha "Jel Saraburi" Permpool, a member of the Thai national women's snooker team, won a silver medal and a bronze medal from Ploychompoo Laokiatpong, a member of the Thai national team. The two athletes will receive a bonus from the National Sports Development Fund: 500,000 baht for the silver medal and 200,000 baht for the bronze medal, totaling 700,000 baht.
According to Thai News Agency, "Sia Pat," the manager of the Thai snooker team, expressed his congratulations to Gel and Ploy for making history in Thai snooker by winning one silver and one bronze. The Thai snooker team had previously won only one bronze at the 2013 World Games, with Dechawat "Jack Saraburi" Phumjang. However, this time, they won a silver medal in a major event second only to the Olympic Games, which is quite significant. He expressed his gratitude to the Sports Authority of Thailand and Mr. Sunthorn Jaruman, president of the Billiards Association of Thailand, for their generous support. Both Gel and Ploy will now return to training with their national teammates, and he is confident that the Thai women's snooker team will garner numerous gold medals for Thailand.
Saraburi's Gel, the silver medalist in the 6-Red snooker tournament, said he was very proud to have won the biggest event of his life. He felt quite pressured in the final and tried to focus on his game, but world champion Bai Yu Lu had done his homework well and was able to solve all of his snooker problems. However, this was enough to give him the strength to return to training and win the SEA Games gold medal at home.
Meanwhile, Ploy Khon Kaen revealed that she defeated Bai Yu Lu in the first round, but in the semi-finals, she struggled to make a move, losing to Nong Gel. However, she will return to training hard to achieve her goal of a gold medal at the SEA Games.
