PTT Bolsters Thai Hockey with Continued Support for 13th Consecutive Year

Bangkok: PTT Public Company Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to the Thai hockey industry by continuing its support for the 13th consecutive year. Hockey players and coaches from Chiang Mai University Demonstration School have expressed their gratitude to PTT for its role in providing a platform for Thai athletes to hone their skills and potentially advance to the national team.

According to Thai News Agency, PTT, in collaboration with the Hockey Association of Thailand, organized the 16th PTT Hockey Thailand Championship for the Queen Sirikit Trophy in 2025. The event, held at the National Hockey and Floorball Training Center in Saraburi Province, featured outdoor competitions from August 9-14 and indoor competitions from August 15-20. It drew participation from 60 clubs nationwide, with athletes ranging from under-18 to general age groups.

Since 2012, PTT has played a pivotal role in supporting the Hockey Association of Thailand and the broader Thai sports industry through the "One Sport, One State Enterprise" project. This initiative has helped cultivate young talent, many of whom have progressed to represent the national team. The continuous support from PTT has allowed young players to learn from national team athletes, who act as role models, and provided them the opportunity to showcase their skills, propelling their careers onto the national stage.

In a recent tournament highlight, "Fluke" Flight Sergeant Thanakrit Chantakian, a Thai national athlete, scored twice in the final match, leading the Air Force Club to a 5-0 victory over the Navy Club. This win marked their fourth consecutive championship, granting them permanent possession of the Royal Trophy. Thanakrit praised PTT's support, noting the increase in young athlete participation and his aspirations for a SEA Games gold medal this year.

The success and popularity of hockey, bolstered by PTT's backing, have had a positive impact on the Thai sports industry. When athletes excel and bring recognition to Thailand, it fosters pride and motivation for sponsors who have invested in their development. An increase in the sport's popularity and athlete participation speaks to the successful partnership between PTT and the Hockey Association of Thailand.
