Lop Buri: Central Investigation Bureau police have arrested a 37-year-old man who fled the country for more than 10 years after tricking a young woman into going on a trip to Bangsaen before taking her there to have sex with her.
According to Thai News Agency, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), together with the arrest team of the Investigation Division of Chachoengsao Province, apprehended Mr. Aphichat, aged 37. The arrest was executed following the warrant issued by the Chachoengsao Provincial Court, No. Chor. 1824/2549, dated October 24, 2006. The charges include 'taking away a woman over the age of fifteen but not more than eighteen years from her parents or guardians for the purpose of indecency, raping a woman other than his wife, detaining another person, and depriving her of her physical freedom.' The arrest took place in front of the suspect's residence in Village No. 5, Tambon Chong Salika, Amphoe Phatthana Nikhom, Lop Buri Province, at the house of his new wife.
The incident occurred in 2006 when Ms. A, then living at her father's house in Bangsaen, Chonburi, was invited by Mr. Aphichat and friends to go to the beach, followed by drinks at her house. While the group was intoxicated and unconscious, Mr. Aphichat allegedly took the opportunity to bring Ms. A (pseudonym), aged 17, into a room and threatened to rape her. Following the incident, the victim's father filed a complaint immediately. The police conducted an investigation and tracked down Mr. Aphichat, who had relocated to his new wife's residence in Lopburi Province. The CIB police acted on this information, leading to his arrest. Mr. Aphichat confessed to all charges and was taken to Chachoengsao City Police Station for legal proceedings. The case is set to expire in 2026.
