Phatthalung:A well-known traditional healer was fatally shot during a gathering in Phatthalung province, where he had been meeting with local political figures.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred during a banquet held in a rubber plantation in Khuan Khanun District. The victim, Mr. Chakrakrit, also known as "Doctor Boy," was a 40-year-old herbalist, and he was killed by two gunshots to the head. The attack happened suddenly, causing a panic among attendees.
CCTV footage captured the chaotic moment when gunshots were fired at approximately 1030 PM. The assailants shot from a distance, targeting Mr. Chakrakrit while he was engaged in discussions with the mayor and a team of about 15 individuals. The meeting focused on strategies to support candidates in an upcoming by-election for the Phanang Tung Subdistrict Municipality.
Police from Thale Noi Police Station arrived promptly to investigate. They learned that the gathering was to help candidates who were previously disqualified. Dr. Boy was considered instrumental in the political process, making him a potential target.
The investigation is ongoing, with police teams from various divisions, including the Phatthalung Provincial Police and Provincial Police Region 9, actively working to gather evidence. They are reviewing CCTV footage and considering multiple motives, including political reasons, for the attack. Interviews with all attendees are being conducted to gather more information about the incident.
