Hat yai: Police have successfully cleared over 340 vehicles in the Hat Yai area in three days, opening up 100% of traffic. Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyot Thepchamnong, Assistant Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, revealed that, following Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet's order to deploy 40 tow trucks from the Metropolitan Police Bureau, in conjunction with Provincial Police Region 9 to clear traffic in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, following the flooding, all vehicles have now been cleared and traffic is fully open.
According to Thai News Agency, this operation initially towed 650 vehicles that were blocking traffic to clear the way after the floodwaters receded. Most of these vehicles were returned to their owners, but many remain obstructing traffic. The National Police Chief subsequently ordered the dispatch of 40 tow trucks from the Metropolitan Police Bureau to support the operation between December 3-5, 2025. A total of 343 vehicles were towed. Of these, 135 were transported to designated parking lots, 50 were returned to their owners, leaving 85 remaining. Another 208 vehicles were transported to homes or repair shops upon public request.
In addition, the spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police stated that vehicles towed and stored pending their owners' return will be kept at the Provincial Police Region 9 parking lot. Officers and a strict security system have been deployed to ensure the safety of all vehicles. The task of towing vehicles to clear traffic has been completed, and the convoy of 40 tow trucks from the Metropolitan Police Bureau will return to their headquarters today.
