Hat yai: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior is actively monitoring the expedited registration process for the 9,000 baht flood relief payment in the Hat Yai Municipality area. The monitoring comes as today marks the seventh day since the Prime Minister's announcement urging the public to return home. Despite this, some patients remain under medical care.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, visited the Hat Yai Municipality Office to oversee the registration process for the flood relief payment. He also extended encouragement to the public, staff, interns, and volunteers involved in the process. Joining him were Mr. Atthaya Nuan-Uthai, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Khetrat Chansin, Deputy Governor of Samut Sakhon Province, along with other officials.
Mr. Arsit emphasized that Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, has tasked the Ministry of the Interior with accelerating the rehabilitation and relief efforts for people affected by the flooding in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. The aim is to restore normalcy for local residents swiftly.
Officials continue to work efficiently, and the number of people receiving services has decreased as funds have been transferred into the PromptPay system for those who have successfully registered. However, some individuals face difficulties registering online and have sought assistance from officials at the Hat Yai Municipality office. Community leaders are on hand to help those who walk in with complaints.
The government has approved financial relief measures, including 9,000 baht per household for flood relief, along with support for deceased persons and the business sector. Following a meeting with the Economic Cabinet, measures have been introduced to support economic recovery, including debt suspension, loans for survival and occupations, home repair loans, and compensation from car insurance companies.
The Prime Minister's promise for residents to return home within seven days has been largely fulfilled, with continued support from Prince of Songkla University and the government. Some patients still require medical monitoring, with teams from the Department of Medical Services and the Faculty of Medicine at Prince of Songkla University providing care.
Rehabilitation efforts in Songkhla Province continue to be fully supported by the Ministry of Interior, with a meeting scheduled to implement further recovery measures. The Prime Minister has lifted the state of emergency under the Emergency Situation Act, maintaining a Level 4 disaster declaration. Provincial management will be led by the provincial governor to ensure efficient management and rapid public benefits.
