State Railway of Thailand Celebrates King Bhumibol’s Birthday with Special Steam Locomotive Tour

Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has organized a special train to celebrate the 5th of December. In honor of the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, which coincides with National Day and Father's Day, the SRT has arranged a special steam locomotive tour on the Bangkok-Chachoengsao route.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anan Phothinimdaeng, Deputy Governor and Acting Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, led the inauguration of the steam locomotive tour at Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong). The event saw participation from executives, SRT employees, tourists, and members of the public.

Mr. Anan explained that December 5th is a significant day in Thailand, marking the birthday of King Bhumibol and serving as National Day and Father's Day. The steam locomotive tour is organized to express loyalty and honor the King's contributions to the nation.

The SRT has deployed Pacific steam locomotives No. 824 and 850, manufactured by Nippon Charyo Co., Ltd., for this special service. These locomotives, maintained at the Thonburi Locomotive Depot, are used on seven key occasions throughout the year, including March 26th, May 4th, June 3rd, July 28th, August 12th, October 23rd, and December 5th.
