Hat yai: The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has announced that 3,000 vehicles in Hat Yai were damaged due to recent flooding. In response, the OIC is set to issue an announcement aimed at streamlining insurance claims procedures. The commission is also preparing to meet with the insurance industry to expedite compensation for policyholders affected by the flood damage.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chuchat Pramulphon, Secretary-General of the OIC, revealed plans to issue an announcement that will streamline claims processing. The OIC also intends to hold an online meeting with the insurance industry to assist insured individuals who have suffered damage, ensuring prompt compensation. Preliminary findings show significant damage in Hat Yai District, with nearly all homes affected. Policyholders are advised to take photographs of any damaged property to notify their insurance companies, which will help in speeding up the claims process.
The assessment of vehicle damage will be categorized into different levels-A, B, and C-to determine compensation amounts. For hybrid vehicles with batteries located under the car, an additional 100,000 baht will be awarded. In the case of electric vehicles, where battery costs can be considerable, insurance companies will compensate according to the insured amount, with a minimum of 500,000 baht. Further discussions with insurance companies are planned for tomorrow to finalize the details.
