Bangkok: NT is ready to deliver NT nexConnect, supporting communication in disaster areas. NT will be available to support the flood situation from August 27-31, 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, National Telecommunications Public Company Limited (NT) is prepared with communication infrastructure to support flood situations between August 27-31, 2026, with NT nexConnect, a low-orbit satellite broadband internet service delivered via the Eutelsat OneWeb satellite network. This service will support communication in affected areas or areas where terrestrial communication networks are unable to function normally.
NT has prepared four User Terminal (UT) units, readily available for immediate use in the northern and southern regions, to support rescue operations and communication in affected areas. An additional six backup units have also been prepared to support flood-affected areas requiring enhanced communication systems.
In addition, NT has prepared LEO Satellite Mobility Vehicles ready to reach affected areas within 48 hours to support the continuity of communications, capable of supporting a variety of deployment scenarios. This includes Fixed for operational points or coordination centers, Mobility for use in mobile areas, and Maritime for waterways or missions related to maritime operations.
NT nexConnect services provide connectivity in remote areas or regions inaccessible to terrestrial networks. Therefore, they can be used as a backup communication network in emergency and disaster situations to support coordination, data transmission, and online access for agencies and personnel in the affected areas. This reflects NT's commitment to leveraging its telecommunications infrastructure and satellite technology to enhance the security and continuity of national communication systems, especially during disasters where terrestrial networks may be impacted, in order to effectively support relevant agencies in carrying out their missions, coordinating, and providing assistance to the public.
