Bangkok: "Saeng" has expressed confidence in the constitutional compliance of the barcode on the ballot papers amid ongoing investigations by the Constitutional Court justices. The investigations took place at the Laksi District Office, where the ballots are securely stored, and involved the examination of evidence related to the barcode's inclusion on the ballot papers. Justice Saeng revealed that after thorough fact-gathering, they are assured that the barcode's presence does not contravene the constitutional provisions.
According to Thai News Agency, the Constitutional Court tasked Mr. Wirun Saengtian and Mr. Napadol Theppitak, along with other officials from the responsible agency, to meticulously inspect the ballot storage facilities. This included reviewing ballot papers, stubs, remaining ballots, voter registration lists, and other election materials used in the general election on February 8, 2026, at the Laksi District Office in Bangkok. The inspection was also attended by Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission; Acting Sub-Lieutenant Phaskorn Siriphakayaporn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission; and Worapong Anantcharoenkit, Director of the Election Support Office, along with the Ombudsman and his officials, who petitioned the investigation.
Mr. Saeng stated that the investigation aimed to confirm the consistency of their testimonies with previous statements made before the judge. During the inspection, court officials provided detailed explanations while touring the premises. The court's review seemed to cover all pertinent aspects, allowing the Ombudsman, as the petitioner, to pose any questions to the respondent before the scheduled verdict hearing on September 28th. Meanwhile, the Election Commission is required to submit their closing statement by September 11th. Saeng also reiterated his confidence in the process, emphasizing that the barcode had already been incorporated into the ballot papers.
