National Police Chief Orders Strict Border Measures to Combat Human Trafficking and Illegal Immigration.

TAC Province: The national police chief has mandated stringent controls along the border to curb human trafficking and unauthorized immigration. Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, has directed various police bureaus to strengthen their border patrol duties and screen all foreigners in line with the national referral mechanism. According to Thai News Agency, the directive was issued at a meeting today at 13.30 hrs. Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet instructed the Immigration Bureau, Central Investigation Bureau, Provincial Police Region 6, and Border Patrol Police to focus on the Tak Province's Mae Sot District and surrounding border areas. The measures are aimed at preventing illegal entries and unauthorized travel to neighboring countries. The strategy includes integrating intelligence from security, military sectors, administration, and local communities. Patrol teams will be established to monitor the border, and checkpoints will be set up on main and secondary routes to ensure all areas, including natural channels, are covered. The Immigration Bureau has been tasked with screening foreigners at international airports and collaborating with airports to monitor domestic travelers. Foreign nationals in the province, whether legal or not, will be questioned as per the national referral mechanism. Pol. Lt. Gen. Prajuab Wongsuk, the Assistant Commissioner-General and Acting Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, is assigned to oversee and report on the implementation of these measures. The policy to combat human trafficking is a critical government priority affecting human rights. The Royal Thai Police is committed to enforcing the law strictly and continuously to achieve concrete outcomes. Any officers found to be complicit or negligent will face decisive action.
