“Big Tai” Set to Appoint Deputy Police Chief for Serious Disciplinary Investigation Against “Big Joke”.

Bangkok: Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the national police chief, has announced preparations to appoint a deputy police chief to investigate serious disciplinary cases involving Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakpal, also known as Big Joke. The announcement comes amid ongoing legal proceedings, with Big Joke reassuring that the process is on schedule and urging non-interference with the Supreme Administrative Court's appeal order. According to Thai News Agency, the Administrative Court recently dismissed a petition to suspend the temporary dismissal of Big Joke. Pol. Gen. Kittirat emphasized that disciplinary actions are conducted in accordance with the rules of the National Police Commission, applicable to all officers. He highlighted that police officers have the right to appeal to the National Police Commission and, if necessary, seek justice at the Supreme Administrative Court. The final decision rests with the judges, and regardless of the outcome, compliance is mandatory for the Royal Thai Police Office. The discip linary process involves two main aspects: the legality of orders published in the media and the legal considerations when a lawsuit is filed. The Administrative Court is currently evaluating these aspects. Pol. Gen. Kittirat has already submitted written explanations to the Supreme Administrative Court to challenge any accusations. Regarding the criminal case, a replacement is sought for the chairman of the investigation, as Pol. Gen. Sarawut Karnphanit, the former deputy national police chief, has retired. Currently, there is no appointed deputy national police chief to oversee the operation. The outcome of the investigation remains pending, and the commanding officer will only receive the report once the serious disciplinary investigation concludes. Pol. Gen. Kittirat assured that the investigation is progressing within the designated time frame, and there are no concerns about delays.
