Mexican Open to Proceed Amid Unrest in Mexico

Acapulco: The organizers of the ATP Tour "Mexican Open" tennis tournament have confirmed that the event will proceed as scheduled, despite ongoing unrest in several areas of Mexico. This decision comes in the wake of heightened tensions following the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho," a prominent drug lord, during an arrest attempt by law enforcement. The incident has sparked retaliatory violence across various regions.

According to Thai News Agency, the Mexican Open is taking place in Acapulco, located in the state of Guerrero. This region is one of five Mexican states where the US government has issued travel warnings, advising American citizens to remain cautious and stay indoors to avoid potential violence. Similarly, the UK government has cautioned its citizens against traveling to several Mexican cities, including Guerrero, due to safety concerns.
