Bangkok: Mr. Winyat Chatmontri, legal representative of former Prime Minister Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, arrived at the Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions of the Supreme Court with a team of 4-5 lawyers. However, Mr. Thaksin himself did not make an appearance at the court.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Winyat discussed the ongoing case regarding the Department of Corrections' decision to allow Mr. Thaksin to receive treatment on the 14th floor of the Police General Hospital. The Supreme Court had scheduled a proceeding to investigate this matter. Mr. Winyat emphasized that, as Mr. Thaksin's authorized lawyer, he is currently unable to provide specific details about the court's future directives or the direction of the proceedings. He mentioned that he would be available for an interview after the process concludes, although he can only speculate at this stage.
Regarding Mr. Thaksin's potential involvement in the case, Mr. Winyat stated that he is not in a position to confirm Mr. Thaksin's attendance. He noted that today's proceedings are expected to be brief and will focus on evaluating the responses from various agencies and individuals who have been summoned. The court will then provide all involved parties an opportunity to present their explanations.
