Udon Thani: Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, is set to visit Udon Thani Province on June 15 to introduce two new MPs who will be joining the Bhumjaithai Party. This development comes after the party successfully closed a deal with six MPs from the Makham Wan constituency, bringing the total number of Bhumjaithai MPs to at least 77.
According to Thai News Agency, the two MPs expected to join the Bhumjaithai Party are Mr. Adisak Kaewmungkunsap and Mr. Rang Thuraphon, both from the Udon Thani constituency and previously affiliated with the Thai Sang Thai Party. The move follows their attendance at the House of Representatives meeting on May 31, where they abstained from voting on the draft 2026 Fiscal Year Budget Act, signaling their independence from any political party at that time.
Prior to this, Mr. Anutin, along with Mr. Newin Chidchob and Mr. Chatcha Thaiset, leaders of the Bhumjaithai Party, had a meeting on June 11 with Mr. Santi Promphat, leader of six MPs from Phetchabun's Palang Pracharath Party, and Mr. Akkaradet Thongchaisod, president of the Phetchabun Provincial Administrative Organization. The meeting, held at a renowned hotel in Bangkok's Soi Rang Nam, marked the finalization of the deal for the Phetchabun MPs to join the Bhumjaithai Party.
With these additions, the Bhumjaithai Party's strength in the House has increased from 69 to 77 MPs. The party anticipates further growth in its ranks as the political landscape continues to evolve.
