Trat: The fighting on the Thai-Cambodian border, particularly along the Trat border, intensified this morning with at least 10 artillery rounds fired near the Ban Sam Lang area. Continuous artillery fire was heard early this morning, escalating tensions near the Ban Sam Lang border crossing.
According to Thai News Agency, Captain Thammanoon Wanna, Commander of the Marine Corps Task Force in Trat, reported that Thai soldiers stationed at Ban Sam Lang detected a large influx of Cambodian troops into the area. The Cambodian forces attempted to advance and retake the Ban Sam Lang area but were met with retaliatory artillery fire from the Thai side, forcing them to retreat. In response to the incursion, Thai forces have repositioned along the entire defensive line and plan to address any further encroachments by Cambodian troops into the Ban Sam Lang area within the next 2-3 days.
The Army Military Force Facebook page revealed that Marines seized Chinese weapons, including anti-tank rocket launchers and a large number of RPGs, as well as a Cambodian military bunker in the Ban Sam Lang and Ban Nong Ri areas of Trat province, following the successful reclamation of the area. The situation remains tense as both sides bolster their defenses and prepare for potential further conflicts.
