Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has clarified the necessary regulations for political parties and candidates regarding campaign announcements and signs for the upcoming 2023 parliamentary election. This move aims to ensure that the electoral process is carried out with integrity and in compliance with legal standards.
According to Thai News Agency, the ECT has issued specific guidelines for setting up locations for election announcements and campaign signs. These guidelines outline the dimensions and content of the campaign materials, as well as the designated locations for their display. For vertical signs, the specified dimensions are a width not exceeding 30 centimeters and a height not exceeding 42 centimeters. Candidates are allowed to set up a limited number of signs based on the number of polling stations, while political parties can produce signs twice the number of polling stations in the province. Furthermore, these announcements must clearly display the candidate's or party's details without overlapping others.
The ECT has also detailed the rules for preparing and placing billboards. These billboards should not exceed a width of 130 centimeters and a length of 245 centimeters. The guidelines emphasize the importance of not obstructing or overlapping with other candidates' or parties' signs. In situations where the House of Representatives is dissolved, the Provincial Election Director is required to coordinate with local agencies to establish suitable locations for campaign posters and communicate these locations before the registration deadline.
Additionally, the regulations specify that at party headquarters or campaign centers, only one campaign sign per constituency is allowed, with a maximum width of 400 centimeters and length of 750 centimeters. This initiative by the ECT seeks to ensure that all candidates and political parties have equitable access to campaign locations, thereby promoting a fair election process.
