Bangkok: The government held a merit-making ceremony to mark the 15th day of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. The event took place at the Santi Maitri Building, Government House, and was organized by the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony was presided over by Somdej Phra Buddhacarya, Abbot of Wat Traimit Witthayaram and Chief Ecclesiastical Officer of the Eastern Region. Ten high-ranking monks participated in the merit-making ceremony. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, acted as the lay presiding official. The event was attended by Cabinet members and their spouses, including Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Saram, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, General Nataphol Nakphanit, and Minister of Defense, Mrs. Yupha Thaweewattanakitborworn. The Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office, along with heads of departments under the Prime Minister's Office, civil servants, and Government House officials, also participated.
Following the merit-making ceremony, Mr. Pipat, along with other government officials, offered alms to 10 monks, which concluded the ceremony. The guidelines for organizing merit-making ceremonies on significant days such as the 15th, 50th, and 100th days after a passing allow government agencies, state enterprises, the private sector, and the public sector to dedicate merit to His Majesty the King as deemed appropriate.
The ceremonies for the anniversaries are outlined as follows: the seventh day (7 days) was observed on October 30, 2025; the fifteenth day (15 days) on November 7, 2025; and the fiftieth day (50 days) will be observed on December 12, 2025.
