Mae sot: Security officials have successfully repatriated the first batch of 270 Indian victims involved in a scam from Myanmar, who had fled to Thailand. The group was transported from Mae Sot District to Mae Sot International Airport, marking a significant step in resolving the situation that began with their escape from K.K. Park in Myanmar.
According to Thai News Agency, the repatriation process follows an incident on October 22, 2015, when heavily armed Myanmar soldiers surrounded K.K. Park, an infamous hub for online scams located along the Moei River in Myawaddy District, Myanmar. This led to 1,598 foreigners from 28 different countries fleeing into Thailand for safety, including the largest group of 465 individuals from India. Each of these individuals has been subjected to vetting procedures prior to their deportation back to India.
It has also been reported that India is set to send a large aircraft on November 10th to facilitate the return of another 195 Indian scam victims. This group is currently under investigation and facing prosecution.
