DSI Files Charges Against 18 Boss Di Icon for Pyramid Scheme and Direct Sales Act Violations.

Bangkok: The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has filed charges against 18 individuals associated with Boss Di Icon, and one juristic entity, accusing them of operating a pyramid scheme and violating the Direct Sales and Direct Marketing Act. The charges were filed at the Bangkok Special Prison and the Central Women's Correctional Institution. According to Thai News Agency, the DSI officers pressed additional charges under the Emergency Decree on Fraudulent Borrowing of Money from the People B.E. 2527 Sections 4 and 5, and the Direct Sales and Direct Marketing Act B.E. 2545 Sections 19 and 20. The procedure adhered to prison regulations, allowing each suspect the right to confess or deny the charges in the presence of their legal representatives. Pol. Lt. Col. Wisanu Chimtrakul, Deputy Director-General of the DSI, stated that the charges were coordinated with prison authorities to ensure compliance. The investigation involved consultation with the Fiscal Policy Office and the Consumer Protection Bo ard, leading to the revelation of new facts and the subsequent decision to file additional charges. The team responsible for filing the charges included Pol. Lt. Col. Woranan Srilam, Pol. Lt. Col. Anurak Rojananirankit, and Pol. Lt. Col. Suravut Rangsai, along with other special case officers. The charges against the 18 suspects were divided between the two institutions, with different officers assigned to handle the male and female suspects respectively. Mr. Witoon Kaengngan, legal representative for 'Boss Paul', indicated preparedness to provide detailed documentation and testimony to counter the charges. He expressed confidence that the business activities did not meet the criteria of a pyramid scheme and emphasized the intention to clarify through system access and evidence presentation. Ms. Kanokwan Jiwchueaphan, deputy spokesperson of the Department of Corrections, confirmed the prison's readiness to accommodate the investigation and assured that standard procedures were in place for prisoner managem ent. She addressed concerns about inmate safety and ongoing investigations related to previous incidents within the prison system.
