Deputy Minister of Interior Welcomes Director of China Institute to Discuss Poverty Solutions and Strengthen Thai-Chinese Relations.

Bangkok: Deputy Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul recently welcomed Professor Dr. Zhang Weiwei, Director of The China Institute, Fudan University, along with Deputy Director Professor Wu Xinwen and their team, to exchange research methods on solving poverty problems. This meeting, held at the Ministry of Interior Building, marks a significant step in enhancing the relations between Thailand and China as the countries approach the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship in 2025. According to Thai News Agency, the discussion focused on the successful qualitative research conducted by The China Institute, which has been instrumental in alleviating poverty, improving quality of life, and revitalizing rural areas with support from the Chinese government. Mr. Anutin emphasized Thailand's commitment to improving the quality of life through comprehensive development strategies, which include creating opportunities, jobs, careers, income, and stability for its citizens. Thailand's human development i nitiatives have positioned the country as a hub for health services and transportation within ASEAN. Mr. Anutin highlighted the importance of human resource development in Thailand, citing educational scholarships and loans that offer students a low-interest repayment plan. This commitment to education and development has contributed to the success of Thailand's human development policies. He also reaffirmed the close ties between Thailand and the People's Republic of China, expressing readiness to welcome Chinese visitors as the COVID-19 situation improves, thereby strengthening the bond between the two nations. Ms. Traisuree Traisaranakul, Secretary to the Minister of Interior and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior, noted that the meeting was attended by high-level executives, including Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and other officials. The discussion underscored the shared heritage and mutual support between Thai and Chinese communities, reinforcing the br otherly relationship between the two countries.
