Bangkok: The Department of Provincial Administration has declined approval for the transfer of Police Captain Cat to assist the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The department has emphasized its policy that new district officers are required to gain field experience.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ronnarong Thipsiri, acting as Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, communicated this decision through a letter, No. MoI 302.13481, to the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives. The letter was in response to an urgent request from the Office of the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, No. S.P.001.02/479, dated September 25, 2025, for civil servants to support official duties.
The request specifically mentioned Police Lieutenant Colonel Atitiya Benjapak, a civil servant and Public Relations Officer from the Department of Provincial Administration. She was requested to assist the Office of the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives in the role of the Speaker of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives on a special case-by-case basis, while retaining her current position, effective from October 1, 2025.
The Department of Provincial Administration has clarified that Police Lieutenant Colonel Atitiya Benjapak has been appointed as a District Officer (Administrative Officer) at the Mueang Sisaket District Office in Sisaket Province, effective October 2, 2025. This policy mandates that newly appointed District Officers must remain in their designated areas to acquire necessary experience.
Consequently, the Department has stated that the civil servant in question cannot be released to assist in official duties at the Office of the Secretary of the House of Representatives. The department has formally informed the relevant authorities of this decision.
